「批判的精神を身に付ける」。言うは易く行うは難し、ですが、非難や誹謗や中傷ではない、クリティーク（語源に遡れば、真偽を識別する、判断する等の意）を実践できるようになりましょう。 “Deepen critical thinking!” Certainly, it is easy to say, but quite difficult to practice it. Let us become able to be “critical” together in classes, which etymologically means to identify the truth, judge properly, etc., never to reproach, blame or slander!

「宗教」をキーワードとして、ヨーロッパやアジア・日本の文化事象を、その社会・政治的文脈を検討しながら批判的に分析していきます。
Our keyword is “religion”. We critically analyze various cultural phenomena called religion, especially in Europe and Japan/Asia, examining their socio-political contexts.

宗教と社会・文化をめぐる諸問題を研究しています。特に19世紀初頭から現在に至るまでのドイツを中心とするヨーロッパのさまざまな宗教運動・思想を、同時代の政治的・文化的・学問的動向との関連で考察しています。また、近代学問・科学の成立と制度化の過程における、宗教を扱う諸学問分野の誕生と展開についても研究しています。
1. Christian and non-Christian religious thoughts and movements in modern Europe, especially in Germany in the process of the modernization of society and the formation of nation states (e.g. relations between religion and nationalist, “volkish” (National Socialist) ideologies).
2. History of academic disciplines that deal with religions / religious traditions, in the context of the establishment process of modern sciences.
