“Faculty of International Studies Campus Visit 2023 : The World is Waiting for You!”

A Campus Visit event took place on Friday, July 14th, from the 2nd to the 4th period, targeting high school students from affiliated schools. Titled “From the Yokohama Campus to the World! Experience the Classes of Meiji Gakuin University’s Faculty of International Studies!”, it attracted 51 students interested in international learning and careers. Among them, 20 (2nd and 3rd year) students came from Meiji Gakuin High School and 31 (1st to 3rd year) students participated from Meiji Gakuin Higashimurayama High School.
With enthusiastic expressions, they enjoyed a day full of activities, including a guidance session, special welcome lectures, an interactive session with alumni from both high schools, dining on campus, tours of various facilities such as the International Center, the Volunteer Center, and the library, and attending some of the Faculty of International Studies’ regular classes.
Some participants left with a sense of relief after a long and busy day of scorching heat. However, the feedback collected through a questionnaire reflected the students’ overwhelming excitement. They shared the following thoughts: “I’m glad that I was able to get an idea of what university classes actually were after attending some,” “I’ve come to know what you study and how you benefit from it,” “Having visited the campus, I truly think that it’s an excellent place,” “I loved the closeness between students and professors,” “This experience has offered me significant insights for my future decisions. I’m glad I participated,” “This Campus Visit has made me even more excited about university life,” “I experienced things I would not have at Open Campus events; it was very informative,” “By hearing seniors’ stories and attending classes, my perspective on the career path I had decided on has completely changed. It was a valuable experience,” “The campus cafeteria meal was delicious,” “There were so many cool students with unique personalities, and I can’t wait to join them,” and “I saw firsthand how fascinating the Faculty of International Studies was.”
The MGU students who hosted the interactive session also made genuine efforts to convey the benefits of studying in the Faculty of International Studies. A student currently studying at San Francisco State University on an exchange program enthusiastically spoke online, although it was only 5 am there. One could sense the excitement in the sparkling eyes of both the student who was relating his experience of living in the United States and the high school students who did not want to miss a word of the presentation.
Undoubtedly, it was a fulfilling and rewarding day for both the participants and the hosts.
