The Faculty of International Studies runs its “Inbound Student Support Program” (tentative name) for students who are plurilingual or who entered the university from abroad. (These students were educated in non-Japanese language school systems or were raised in plurilingual homes.)
The program is designed to provide wide-spread support to students who have extensive contact with cultures and languages other than Japanese. This not only includes full-time students from other nations, but also students with Japanese nationality who received their primary or secondary education outside Japan, and students who trace their roots to overseas cultures.
Advising for Foreign and Plurilingual Students
Please feel free to consult with us if you have any concerns with your student life here, including course registration matters, procedures that concern your student status, and issues with studying in Japanese. The faculty member in charge of the program will help you to resolve your problems through direct support and by working with organizations within and outside of the university. We can also help students residing outside Japan through online communication platforms.
If you would like to discuss an issue, please contact Prof. Watanabe via the link below. (You can write in Japanese or in English.)
Among its activities, the “Inbound Student Support Program (tentative name)” manages a language exchange program that fosters engagement among students. Based upon the language you want to study, the faculty coordinator helps you to find a partner, and once a week you meet to share your cultures and languages. (This was conducted online in 2020-2021.)
