International Studies students in their second year sign-up for seminars taught by individual faculty members in the department.
No matter which seminar you join, you will be directly taught by your professor in a small-sized class. Seminars are a place where you sharpen your insights and deepen your awareness of international issues through discussions and debates with your instructor and other seminar students.
You will also work with other professors, and you can seek guidance and advice during their faculty office hours. Approximately half of the seminars hold Field Studies in and outside of Japan.
Many seminars are conducted in Japanese, but some professors make extensive use of English readings and research materials which prepares their students for study abroad. Some students in these seminars also write their graduation projects in English.
