An overview of the Department’s curriculum
For More Information
English is the primary language of
the Department of Global and Transcultural Studies,
and its curriculum consists of lectures on culture,
society, economics and politics that are taught entirely
in that language.

GTS seminars are classes in which you study
specific themes.
In your fourth year, you take two seminars in
order to prepare and submit a Graduation Project.

In Field Studies you go off campus to gain
an experiential understanding of the themes
and issues you have been studying
in the classroom.

During your first three years in GTS,
you take AEP classes to heighten your abilities
to read and understand academic texts,
write reports, make presentations,
and express your ideas.

Students in the Department of
Global and Transcultural Studies can acquire
and strengthen Japanese language skills in
small-sized classes that range
from beginner to advanced levels.
For More Information
At the conclusion of your four years of studying
global and transcultural issues, you prepare
and submit a Graduation Project on a research
topic of your choice.
