これまで、家族と一緒にいくつかの国や地域で暮らしてきました。それぞれの場所で、多様な背景を持つ人々との素晴らしい出会いがあり、貴重な異文化体験をしました。
そうしているうちに、大好きな日本語を通して世界の人々とつながることができる素敵な仕事と出会いました。そして、今ここにいます。
Over the past years, I had lived in several countries and regions with my family. In each place, I had wonderful encounters with people from diverse backgrounds and had valuable cross-cultural experiences.
Eventually, I came across an excellent job that allows me to connect with people all over the world through my beloved Japanese language, and I am here now.

早稲田大学大学院日本語教育研究科修士課程修了（日本語教育学修士）、早稲田大学大学院日本語教育研究科博士後期課程（満期退学）、早稲田大学日本語教育研究センター（インストラクター非常勤）、モナシュ大学、メルボルン大学、東京都立大学、流通経済大学（非常勤講師）を経て現職。 Keiko Okumura is an Assistant Professor in Global and Transcultural Studies at Meiji Gakuin University. She received a Master in Japanese-Language Education from the Graduate School of Japanese Applied Linguistics in Waseda University in 2008. She has been an instructor at the Center for Japanese Language at Waseda University since 2008. Previously, she was an adjunct lecturer at Monash University from 2011-2014, and research assistant and adjunct lecturer at The University of Melbourne from 2012-2014. She has been an adjunct lecturer at Tokyo Metropolitan University since 2015, and at Ryutsu Keizai University since 2016, and she joined the faculty at Meiji Gakuin University in 2021. |

A short comment about Meigaku for prospective candidates.
あなたにとって言語を学ぶことの意義は何ですか。
新約聖書の冒頭の「はじめにことばがあった。」という一節はあまりにも有名ですが、ここでいう「ことば」は、「言語」そのものを指すものではなく、もともとギリシャ語で「ロゴス」と表現されていました。
ロゴスとは何かを調べてみると、言語、真理、概念、事実、論理、思考、秩序など、多くの意味が示されています。
つまり、「ことば」は、人が社会で他者と共生する上で必要となるあらゆる要素のまとまりだといえそうです。
言語はそのうちの一つに過ぎませんが、言語を学べば、それを使う人々の文化や社会を知るきっかけとなり、人々の思いに寄り添うことができるようになるでしょう。
明治学院大学のモットーは“Do for Others”です。言語を学ぶことによりあらゆる学びを深め、他者に貢献する人として活躍されることを願っています。
What is the significance of language learning to you?
The passage “In the beginning was the Word” at the opening sentence of the New Testament is very famous.
However, the expression “Word” here does not refer to the “language” itself, but it was originally expressed as “logos” in Greek.
If you look up “logos” in a dictionary, you will find many meanings such as language, truth, concept, fact, logic, thought, and order.
In other words, the “Word” is a collection of all the elements that people need to live with others in society.
Language is just one of them. However, learning languages will give you opportunities to learn about the cultures and societies of those who use them, and you will be able to get closer to their thoughts.
The motto of Meiji Gakuin University is “Do for Others”. I hope that your language learning here will deepen all your learning and allow you to play an active role as a contributor to others.
