Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) has awarded a prize to Misa Kanagae, a third-year student in the Global and Transcultural Studies Department of the Faculty of International Studies. Misa won the “JASSO Students of the Year” Incentive Prize in the field of Social Contribution.
This “JASSO Students of the Year” award is given to students with excellent academic records who initiates and carries out a successful project to contribute to society. The aim of the award is to foster persons who have the potential for the 21st century.
The subject of Ms Kanagae’s project was “Global food and environmental activities.” Through her awareness-raising activities related to the problem of food, many students were provided the opportunity to think about social issues in the world. To increase understanding about food production and global warming, she organized a workshop at Meiji Gakuin University. This was attended by about 40 students and was also reported about in the media.
